Discover The Tiny Marvel Of Madagascar: Madame Berthe’s Mouse Lemur, The World’s Smallest Primate

Madame Berthe’s mouse lemur (Microcebus berthae) is a tiny primate endemic to the tropical forests of Madagascar. With a weight of just 30 grams and a length of 10 centimeters, it is the smallest primate species known to science. Scientifically classified as a prosimian, its distinctive brown fur, large eyes, and long, bushy tail set it apart from other mouse lemurs. Found only in a small, fragmented area of northwestern Madagascar, this solitary and nocturnal creature feeds primarily on insects, fruits, and tree gums. Despite its population being threatened by habitat loss and fragmentation, conservation efforts are underway to protect this unique and endangered species.
